Financial Management Specialist

At Sterling-Hoffman, we are seeking a highly skilled Financial Management Specialist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting and financial management, with experience in maintaining and managing financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll. The successful candidate will also have excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial reports for management review. Additionally, the candidate will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors for timely audits and accurate tax filings. The Financial Management Specialist will also be responsible for monitoring and controlling project costs, conducting cost-benefit analyses, and suggesting strategies to minimize expenses without compromising quality. The ideal candidate will have a university degree in a relevant field and appropriate full-time work experience. Recent experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred, and preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in accounting. Key Responsibilities:
1) Maintain and manage financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger entries, and payroll
2) Assist in the creation and management of budgets, including forecasting and variance analysis to support project planning and financial decision-making
3) Prepare and analyze financial reports, including income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements, and other financial reports for management review
4) Ensure compliance with accounting principles, company procedures, and relevant regulations
5) Collaborate with external auditors and tax advisors for timely audits and accurate tax filings
6) Monitor and control project costs, conduct cost-benefit analyses, and suggest strategies to minimize expenses without compromising quality
7) Oversee payroll activities, ensuring accurate and timely processing for all employees, including contractors and subcontractors
8) Provide insightful financial analysis and recommendations to support operational decisions, project profitability, and resource allocation
9) Manage relationships with vendors, negotiate contracts, and ensure timely payment processing
10) Develop and implement internal control procedures to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy in financial operations
11) Work closely with other departments to provide financial insights, guidance, and support in decision-making processes

Critical Requirements:
1) A university degree is required. Although all candidates are welcome and encouraged to apply, preference will be given to those with degrees in a relevant field
2) Appropriate full-time work experience is mandatory (no students or fresh graduates please)
3) Recent experience in the construction industry is strongly preferred
4) Preference will be given to candidates with recent experience in accounting
