Director of Estimating Job Description

At Engtal, we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Director of Estimating to lead our estimating operations and drive business growth. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for overseeing the preparation of accurate budgets, estimates, and bids for complex construction projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Estimate Management: Oversee the preparation of complete and accurate budgets, estimates, bids, and GMPs, from initial sketches to fully developed construction documents.
  • Constructability and Value Engineering: Apply your expertise in construction methodology and pricing to provide constructability and value engineering recommendations that deliver client value.
  • Business Development: Identify, develop, and help close new project opportunities, working closely with marketing and business development teams to build our project pipeline and prepare proposals and client presentations.
  • Team Leadership: Collaborate with the construction operations team to develop project schedules, logistics plans, and ensure seamless project handover to the construction team.
  • Department Management: Mentor, recruit, and hire members of the Estimating team, fostering a cohesive and motivated department.
  • Process Improvement: Develop and implement estimating processes and procedures that ensure consistency and scalability, and track departmental KPIs.
Requirements:
  • Estimating Experience: Proven track record in successfully estimating complex construction projects from initiation to completion.
  • Leadership Skills: Strong team-building, quantitative, and communication skills.
  • Problem-Solving: Exceptional time-management and problem-solving abilities.
  • Construction Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of construction principles, processes, practices, and pricing.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency in construction estimating software.
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in construction estimating.
