About This Role

As a Controls Engineer at Carrier, you will be responsible for designing, documenting, and programming building automation systems (BASs) in compliance with project plans and specifications. This includes the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware.

Key Responsibilities

Design of complete building automation systems, including the specification and sizing of controllers, electromechanical devices, sensors, networks, and computer hardware. Creation of sequences of operation for the control of common building systems. Documentation of the BAS design (i.e. submittals) and revision control of the resultant documents. Site-specific configuration of the WebCTRL system (using SiteBuilder). Programming of control algorithms including those that include third-party integration (using Eikon). Development of graphical and text-based interfaces for building automation systems (using Eikon and ViewBuilder). Testing of programming and interfaces prior to deployment. Support of functional testing (commissioning) for building systems. Final documentation of the building automation system that incorporates all changes made since issuance of the submittal. Adherence to project requirements and company and customer standards in all aspects of design, programming, and support during the selling process to ensure that sales representatives accurately address customer requirements and propose the best possible solutions. Identification and communication of project opportunities and risks related to cost, time, and technical creation of requests for information (RFIs). Clear communication and proactive expectation setting with manager and project teams both internal and external. Adherence to safety standards. High regard for employee and subcontractor safety. Adherence to ethics standards. Exemplifies the Carrier code of ethics. Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications

High school diploma or GED. 4+ years of HVAC or BAS controls experience. Willingness and ability to travel up to 10% including air travel, overnight hotel stays, and unexpected travel when required. Capable of climbing ladders or using other lift equipment over 8 feet above grade, and capable of lifting items up to 50lbs. Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher in an engineering or construction discipline and 2+ years' experience in the HVAC controls industry. Able to understand and recommend modifications to sequences of operations for the automation of building systems. Able to write sequences of operations for common HVAC systems and control methodologies. Experience with Microsoft Visio (other CAD software acceptable). Working knowledge of Automated Logic software, hardware, peripherals, add-ons, and services. Understanding of Enterprise IP networks, including layout.
