Job Overview

As a Sylvan Learning Center of South Fort Worth team member, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and engaging learning experience for students. Your primary responsibility will be to teach students using Sylvan program materials, ensuring that each student receives a balanced and robust learning experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare for each instructional session by gathering and preparing materials as needed.
  • Engage students and initiate instruction to personally connect with each student.
  • Instruct students according to the design of the Sylvan programs.
  • Manage students, tasks, and time to create a balanced and robust instructional session.
  • Evaluate and record the progress of each student on their program assignment.
  • Use praise and encouragement to ensure students are motivated and inspired to learn.
  • Motivate students with Sylvan tokens given for specific achievements according to the Sylvan instructional management standards.
  • Record and track tokens earned by students.
  • Manage the conclusion of each instructional session and manage the completion of learning log and transition activities; Support procedures to ensure student safety and well-being.
  • Communicate specific student needs to Center staff.
  • Attend periodic staff meetings and complete ongoing training as needed.
  • Complete certification training on each Sylvan program taught to students.

Requirements

  • Language Arts and Study Skills Program Teachers:
    • Four-year degree or equivalent required.
    • State or provincial teaching credentials (current or expired).
    • Minimum of one or two years of teaching experience preferred.
    • Knowledge of phonics and reading comprehension preferred for reading teachers.
  • Math Program Teachers:
    • Four-year degree required in a discipline requiring 3 or more years of college-level math.
  • SAT/ACT, Test Prep, and Advanced Reading Skills Teachers:
    • Four-year degree or equivalent preferred.
  • Knowledge of general office equipment such as copiers, printers, and office phones.
  • Knowledge of tablet computers preferred.
