Job Summary

This position is responsible for preparing and serving nutritious meals to students in a safe and healthy manner.

Key Responsibilities
  • Food Preparation: Prepare and pack food according to menus and in correct portion sizes as mandated by yield guides.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Perform cleaning duties, cleaning of equipment and work areas, dish and pot washing.
  • Food Delivery: Deliver food to students and catering events when necessary.
  • Food Safety: Comply with all state, federal, and local health department requirements for safe food handling.
  • Client Service: Comply with all client location security protocols and guidelines.
  • Supply Management: Check and store incoming supplies.
  • Break Schedules: Follow assigned break schedules.
  • Tray Collection: Collect and strip trays for dishwashing and participate in ware washing if assigned.
  • Training and Development: Attend all mandatory in-service programs.
  • Cash Handling: Manage POS/cash handling if applicable for position.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Whitsons Policies: Adhere to all Whitsons policies and procedures at all times.
  • Company Objectives: Support the goals, objectives, and mission statement set forth by Whitsons.
  • Food Handling Certification: Comply with all requirements of the mandated food handling certification requirements.
  • Other Duties: Perform all other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • Certifications: Servsafe certification or Food Managers Certificate.
  • Experience: 1 year professional food service experience required.
  • Language: Ability to speak and read English in order to understand and perform job assignments.
Physical Demands
  • Standing: Standing on feet majority of the workday.
  • Lifting: Lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
  • Vision: Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment
  • Kitchen Environment: The work is performed primarily in the kitchen and on the serving line.
  • Temperature Extremes: Exposure to extreme temperatures (hot and cold) due to cooking and refrigeration equipment.
