Southwest Electric Company is seeking a skilled Power Systems Protection Specialist to join our Nashville Field Service team.

Job Summary:

As a Power Systems Protection Specialist, you will be responsible for testing, commissioning, servicing, and troubleshooting electrical power systems and subsystems. You will also test and apply protective relays and control devices, as well as project manage retrofit, upgrade, and replacement projects for electrical controls, SCADA, DCS, and power system protection equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Interpret customer and sales submitted technical documents, quotations, and service requests to apply to the quoted task.
  • Communicate technical information clearly and concisely to management and customers.
  • Travel to job locations to test, commission, troubleshoot, and apply technical and safety standards to assigned work.
  • Create test reports and summaries of work completed.
  • Assist in training service technicians in basic protective relay and control systems.

Requirements:

  • Ability to pass a pre-employment DOT drug screen and physical.
  • Complete a satisfactory nationwide criminal background check.
  • Valid driver's license and clean driving record.
  • Ability to lift 50+ lbs, climb ladders, and stand for extended periods.
  • Ability to work extended periods, including overtime, weekends, and holidays with minimal notice.

Education and Experience:

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • Trade/Tech school with 5-7 years of proven OTJ experience in power systems protection and controls.
  • Equivalent Military training plus proven OTJ experience in power system protection and controls.
  • University/College 2–4-year Engineering Technology plus related power system protection experience.
