SNG is currently seeking a qualified Senior Accountant, who will report to the Accounting Manager in our Williamsville, NY office. This position supports a hybrid work arrangement.
Key Responsibilities:
- Utilize advanced accounting expertise to execute and/or supervise routine and non-routine tasks related to the processing and reconciliation of receivables, billing, payroll, accounts payable, fixed assets, general ledger, preparation of financial statements, and assistance with compliance audits in a growing multi-company setting.
- Conduct month-end closing procedures, which include preparing journal entries, reconciling accounts, analyzing financial data, and recognizing revenue to ensure precision and completeness.
- Evaluate project profitability.
- Reconcile and manage cost pools.
- Examine daily accounts payable vouchers for accuracy and appropriate coding.
- Oversee and post biweekly payrolls.
- Assist external auditors by providing necessary documentation and clarifications.
- Collaborate with various departments, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and Project Controls.
- Centralize, maintain, and register multiple companies for state payroll and sales tax compliance, which includes:
- Researching payroll reporting requirements by state.
- Investigating multi-state sales tax obligations.
- Preparing license returns for state jurisdictions.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related discipline.
- Six (6) years of experience in corporate or public accounting.
- Extensive experience in the preparation of financial statements.
- Significant experience with project-based ERP and payroll systems.
- Advanced knowledge of GAAP and cost accounting principles; familiarity with government contract accounting principles and FAR is strongly preferred.
- Strong analytical and conceptual thinking abilities, employing logic and creativity.
- Proficient in computer applications and standard office software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
- Demonstrated attention to detail and accuracy in work output.
- Proven ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Team-oriented and respectful collaborator.
- Eight (8) years or more of accounting experience; four (4) years in governmental accounting.
- Experience with ERP systems (the company utilizes Deltek Costpoint & Cognos Report Writing for financial reporting and ADP Workforce Now for payroll processing).
- CPA certification is a plus.
