Job Description

Laland Baptiste, a certified minority and woman-owned construction management and consulting firm, is seeking a highly skilled Controller to join its tight-knit management team at its Corporate Office in Mineola, NY. This full-time role will oversee all company financial operations, providing a great opportunity for personal growth and development.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare internal financial statements to summarize and forecast the company's financial status.
  • Work with outside accountants to prepare annual financial statements.
  • Produce and manage balance sheets and analyze future earnings and expenses.
  • Manage accounting, auditing, and budgeting within the organization.
  • Assist with preparations for audits.
  • Reconcile accounting inaccuracies or imbalances.
  • Ensure compliance with and prepare reports according to applicable government regulations.
  • Use accounting software to maintain records and prepare reports.
  • Delegate accounting tasks to junior accounting staff.
  • Maintain chart of accounts and ensure a system of controls over accounting transactions.
  • Cash Management / Asset Management as well as Cash Projection.
  • Oversee A/P and A/R transactions to include billing, payroll processing, bank reconciliations, and analysis of general ledger accounts.
  • Ensure Contract Analysis by Project Managers with Comparison of Previous Period.
  • Comply with all local/state/federal reporting requirements and tax filings.
  • Prepare annual budget and forecasts.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • 5 years' experience in accounting.
  • CPA required.
  • Construction industry experience a plus.
