Facilities Operations Manager

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Facilities Operations Manager to join our team at NYU Langone Health. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing and coordinating all daily operations, maintenance, and construction activities of a multi-discipline team of operations managers, technology specialists, trade labor, customer service representatives, and external resources.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in facilities management, with a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role. They will be responsible for developing and implementing departmental policies, procedures, and performance metrics to optimize the delivery of operations, maintenance, and construction activities.

The Facilities Operations Manager will also be responsible for coordinating construction activities with end users and Facilities Operations trade departments, Commissioning engineers and managers. They will manage selected buildings as needed and ensure that all work has the appropriate Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), Hot Work Permit, Above Ceiling Permit, and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) required prior to commencing work.

The successful candidate will be a strong communicator and leader, with the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization. They will also have a strong understanding of Building Management Systems and computer maintenance management systems.

Responsibilities:

  • Controls access of outside contractors and engineering consultants
  • Develops and implements departmental policies, procedures, and performance metrics
  • Manages selected buildings as needed
  • Coordinates construction activities with end users and Facilities Operations trade departments
  • Ensures that all work has the appropriate Interim Life Safety Measures (ILSM), Hot Work Permit, Above Ceiling Permit, and Infection Control Risk Assessments (ICRA) required prior to commencing work
  • Responds to emergency calls during non-business hours, including on-site as deemed necessary, and recommends corrective measures
  • Coordinates call center, energy performance analysis, BMS alarm response, and technical support for operations staff

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
  • Demonstrated progressive growth in the field of health care, education, or science facility maintenance and management
  • Minimum of 10 years of management experience with a minimum of 5 years of facilities hospital and union trade labor supervisory experience
  • Familiarity with Building Management Systems and computer maintenance management systems
  • Strong communication and leadership skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Mechanic Engineering Degree with Professional Engineering License
  • Familiarity with all types of mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and building automation systems
  • Experience with energy conservation programs and utility distribution
