Comprehensive Physical Therapy Support Professional

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant to join our team at Hoke County Schools. As a member of our exceptional children's program, you will play a vital role in delivering therapy services to students with physical handicaps.
Job Summary:The Physical Therapist Assistant is responsible for assisting a physical therapist in developing and implementing therapy plans tailored to the unique needs of each student. This includes preparing equipment, adapting furniture and toys, and coordinating feeding programs to ensure students receive the best possible care.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist in scheduled therapy activities under the direction of a physical therapist, including preparation, transportation, and assistance with exercises.
- Monitor the safety and well-being of physical therapy students at all times, promoting independence and self-esteem.
- Communicate effectively with parents, doctors, nurses, therapists, and other relevant parties to understand student needs and provide appropriate services.
- Confer with physical therapists, administrators, teachers, and parents to coordinate feeding programs, ensuring accurate information is shared regarding food consistencies, allergies, prescriptions, and special diets.
- Feed students as necessary, monitoring special diets, and accompanying them to lavatories as needed.
- Maintain and issue supplies, specially adapted equipment, furniture, toys, and clothing for use by students in therapy, adhering to strict sanitation protocols to prevent the spread of contagious diseases.
- Perform general housekeeping duties, set up equipment, and perform repair and maintenance tasks related to school and/or students' personal equipment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress and review with the physical therapist, ensuring availability of proper records for meetings with physicians, equipment specialists, and others as required.
- Completion of an accredited educational curriculum for physical therapist assistants and two years of experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Licensure as a physical therapist assistant in North Carolina.
The Physical Therapist Assistant position requires light physical work, involving occasional exertion of up to 20 pounds of force and negligible amounts of force frequently or constantly to move objects. Essential skills include preparing, reading, and comprehending job-related forms, reports, and documentation in all languages required by the job, understanding and conforming to rules of punctuation, grammar, diction, and style, and communicating effectively and efficiently orally and in writing.
Salary and Benefits:This is a full-time position with a salary of approximately $40,000 - $60,000 per year, based on experience and qualifications. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
