Position Overview

The Lead Shipfitter Specialist will collaborate with a dynamic team, focusing on C5ISR system installations. Your expertise and teamwork will play a crucial role in enhancing military defense and ensuring the safety of our service members.

Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee a small team or work autonomously.
- Interpret blueprints, guidelines, and diagrams to fabricate and assemble various electromechanical and electronic components.
- Operate onboard naval vessels and military facilities, often in environments that may be uncomfortable due to drafts, noise, and temperature fluctuations, while adhering to strict safety protocols.

Be attentive to safety, which is paramount in this role. Demonstrate proficiency in working with blueprints, assembly drawings, and sketches to complete a wide range of assembly and subassembly tasks. Familiarity with standard concepts, practices, and procedures in this field is essential.

Qualifications:
To excel in this position, you will need:
- A High School Diploma.
- A minimum of 8 years of experience in a shipyard environment.
- The capability to supervise junior personnel and laborers.
- The ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance.
- Access to shipyards, passing background checks and drug screenings.
- OSHA certification and Forklift certification.

Additionally, you should possess 8 years of combined experience in the following areas:
- Building simple connectors.
- Managing HAZMAT lockers and safety operations.
- Understanding QA and contractual requirements.
- Reading drawings at an apprentice level.
- Operating light machinery and equipment.
- Conducting firewatch and cable installation certifications.

Safety Commitment:
Conduct safety Job Hazard Analyses (JHAs) and advocate for Serco's "Zero Harm" initiative. Follow directions from senior staff and utilize power tools for both large-scale and intricate mechanical assemblies. Experience in fabrication and precision assembly of various mechanical components is required.

Physical requirements include the ability to work in high-temperature environments, climb ladders, and lift up to 50 pounds, with the majority of tasks requiring lifting, pushing, or pulling up to 40 pounds while standing, crouching, or walking.

Willingness to travel up to 10% to various work sites is necessary. Candidates must be prepared to work in a challenging yet rewarding environment.

Additional Desired Skills:
An active DoD secret clearance and OSHA certification are preferred.
