About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Intervention Specialist to join our team at Dunbar Community Counseling Services in West and Southwest Philadelphia.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide one-to-one mental health intervention to children and adolescents with serious emotional disturbances, focusing on prevention of more restrictive services or out-of-home placement.
  • Collaborate with families, teachers, and designated individuals to develop skills and techniques for promoting age-appropriate psychosocial growth.
  • Implement interventions such as positive behavior reinforcement, crisis intervention techniques, time-structuring, social interaction modeling, emotional support, and time-out strategies as outlined in treatment plans.
Essential Functions
  • Develop and implement individualized behavioral intervention plans to assist children in developing self-management skills.
  • Support families and teachers in providing direct supervision and therapeutic structure, including implementing alternative activities to redirect challenging behaviors.
  • Promote positive relationships with family, teachers, peers, and others, ensuring safety to the child and others.
  • Collaborate on individual services provision, providing only BHT services as part of implementing ITPs.
Organizational Accountability
  • Supervised by the Behavior Consultant, Mobile Therapist, Clinical Supervisor, Administrative Director, Clinical Director, and CEO.
  • Participate in monthly peer supervision, training support, and clinical support to clients and treatment teams.
  • Review and adhere to new policies and procedures.
Competencies and Qualifications
  • Strong written and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with a team.
Education and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in psychology, social work, counseling, sociology, education, or related field from an accredited institution.
  • Associate's degree or 60 credits towards a bachelor's degree with 1 year of full-time experience in mental health direct services.
  • Certification as a BCaBA, RBT, BCAT, or equivalent is required.
  • Valid child Abuse, criminal history, CPR/ First Aid, and FBI clearances are necessary.
Estimated Salary

$45,000 - $55,000 per annum, based on experience and qualifications.
