Resource Nurse Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Resource Nurse to join our team at LaSalle Corrections. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to inmates, collaborating with physicians, and contributing to the overall success of our medical department.
Responsibilities- Provide first aid treatment and assist physicians in treating serious accidents or illnesses.
- Treat minor injuries and illnesses according to physician instructions or nursing protocols, and maintain accurate health records.
- Clean and dress wounds, operate emergency equipment, and provide follow-up nursing care as required.
- Prepare and administer specified medications and drugs, and assist in developing programs to prevent or control diseases and accidents.
- Monitor inmates restricted to bed rest or medical observation, and conduct cursory medical exams during their first 24 hours on site.
- Conduct designated health services special programs as assigned, and promote the development of positive social skills through modeling appropriate behaviors and intervening when necessary.
- Maintain accountability of inmates and property, adhere to safety practices, and ensure all reports and statistics are kept and properly reported.
- Assist the Health Services Administrator (HSA) in training employees on daily routines and duties, and ensure personnel responsibilities are met for designated shifts in the absence of the HSA.
- Take an active role in performance improvement and committees, as appropriate, and participate in identifying needs and supporting goals and objectives that contribute to the success of the medical department.
