Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) at Vanderbilt University Medical Center plays a vital role in the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing high-quality patient care in the acute care hospital setting. As a hospitalist, the NP manages the care of complex patients, working closely with the attending physician team to develop and implement individualized plans of care.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess and manage the health status of acute and complex patients, including ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and prescribing medications and interventions.
  • Collaborate with the healthcare team to develop and implement plans of care, ensuring continuity of care across the inpatient and outpatient continuum.
  • Provide education and support to patients and families, promoting health literacy and self-management skills.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, contributing to the development and implementation of evidence-based practices.
  • Document patient care and outcomes, ensuring accurate and timely recording of patient information.
Requirements
  • Licensed Nurse Practitioner in Tennessee
  • Master's degree in Nursing
  • Relevant work experience in acute care hospital setting
