High-Reliability Component Design and Development Expert

AEM, Inc. is a leading manufacturer of high-reliability electronic components, seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support our Sales and Customer Service team.
Key Responsibilities:- Interface with external and internal engineering departments to identify and generate design wins.
- Perform a variety of product, technical, and engineering functions, including pre/post-sales support, research, component analysis, design, and development.
- Collaborate with design, production, and/or engineering departments to develop/execute technical strategies that help solve customer design challenges.
- Drive adoption of advocated solutions, with supplier partners, that meet customer needs and lead to increased design activity, design wins, and sales growth.
- Create presentations, technical papers, application notes, design guides, spec sheets, and other sales-related documentation.
- Provide general application and product-level sales training.
- Present technical papers at trade shows and symposiums.
- Identify and track largest design opportunities from concept to production, utilizing all supplier resources to assure greatest potential for success.
- Interpret Military/Government and/or Supplier Controlled Documentation, determine AEM product capability, and generate associated quotations.
- Research major industry players to be able to communicate to internal and external customers, industry trends, and directions.
- Attend internal and external technical training as needed, to complete and maintain certifications.
- Provide technical support to Customer Service and Sales teams.
- Bachelor's Degree (preferred) or associate degree in electrical/electronic engineering, or related field.
- 8+ years' experience in electronics manufacturing environment.
- Familiarity with and ability to interpret detailed customer specifications.
- Ability to conduct component analysis and board-level testing evaluations.
- Experience with public speaking and presentation of technical papers.
- Experience with graphic design software.
- This position requires domestic and international travel (10-50%).
- Detail-oriented and organized.
- Solid problem-solving skill.
- Excellent negotiation skills.
- Solid understanding of products/services, the market, and the needs of assigned accounts.
- Understands emerging market trends and interdependencies impacting customers; leverages understanding to expand relationships with own customers.
- Collaborates with team and leadership. Has direct contact with clients and decision makers; participates in team sales for major accounts.
- Actively involved in negotiations for new business.
- Works within broad guidelines and policies to develop business with new and existing customers.
- Excellent communication in English.
- Good to excellent spelling, grammar, and written communication skills.
- Excellent telephone and oral communication skills.
- Strong public speaking and presentation skills.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as memos, general clerical documents, bank and financial statements, safety rules, instruction booklets, and manuals.
- Ability to write well (e.g., memos, reports, e-mails, agendas, minutes).
- Ability to perform sales and financial forecasting.
- Ability to analyze data, including reading charts and graphs.
- This position requires the ability to work in a fast-paced environment and multi-task efficiently.
- Ability to apply common sense and critical thinking to carry out instructions and make decisions within scope of authority.
- Ability to deal with problems involving several variables.
- Ability to streamline processes.
- Ability to manage and juggle projects, both short and long term, to fruition.
- Strong skills in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook.
- Skilled at graphic design and publishing software like QuarkXPress.
- Strong internet skills.
- Ability to draft clear, concise e-mails.
