Diagnostic Imaging Specialist

As a Diagnostic Radiology Technologist II at Geisinger Health System, you will play a vital role in delivering exceptional patient care by performing a variety of standardized radiological/fluoroscopic examinations. You will operate related equipment and devices, maintain safe radiation practices, and maintain related records. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong technical skills, attention to detail, and excellent communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform standardized radiological and fluoroscopic examinations, ensuring proper positioning of patients, techniques, and operation of equipment.
- Verify correct orders and patient identification, reviewing and analyzing patient body size, thickness, age, physical condition, and suspected pathology for standardized examinations.
- Assist physicians with various procedures, utilizing digital technology for image production and responsible for Quality Assurance of images sent to picture archiving communication systems.
- Prepare patients for radiological procedures, positioning patients, adjusting immobilization devices, moving equipment into specified positions, and adjusting equipment controls to set exposure factors.
- Provide necessary education to patients, minimizing radiation to patients and staff by practicing radiation protection techniques, using beam restrictive devices, patient shielding, and knowledge of exposure factors.
- Maintain radiology equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements, following manufacturer's instructions, troubleshooting malfunctions, calling for repairs, maintaining equipment inventories, and evaluating new equipment and techniques.
- Maintain radiology supplies inventory by checking stock to determine inventory levels, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders for supplies, and verifying receipt of supplies.
- Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations, protecting patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols, and administering first aid and assisting in cases of adverse reactions to media.
- Document patient care services by charting in patient and department records, administering first aid, and assisting in cases of adverse reactions to media.
Requirements:
Education:
Graduate from a Specialty Training Program (Required)
Experience:
Minimum of 1 year of related work experience (Preferred)
Certification(s) and License(s):
Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation Certification - American Heart Association (AHA), Certified Radiology Technologist - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
