Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Pipe Fitter Assistant to join our team. As a Pipe Fitter Assistant, you will assist experienced pipe fitters in laying out, fabricating, assembling, installing, and maintaining commercial and industrial production and processing piping systems.

Responsibilities:
  • Assist in interpreting sketches, blueprints, and isometric drawings to ensure accurate installation of piping systems.
  • Help pipe fitters clean, bevel, and install pipes with various fittings and weld joints.
  • Perform layout, rigging, and transportation of pipes, valves, and fittings.
  • Inspect work sites to determine presence of obstructions and plan sequence of installation to avoid them.
  • Cut pipes using pipe cutters, cutting torches, and pipe cutting machines.
  • Thread pipes using threading machines.
  • Secure pipes to structures using brackets, clamps, and hangers.
  • Test piping systems to ensure they are functioning correctly.
  • Loading, transporting, and unloading materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Requirements:
  • Minimum 1-2 years of experience as a pipe fitter/welder apprentice or equivalent combination of vocational training and experience.
  • NCCER certification preferred.
  • Ability to learn to sketch complex isometric drawings.
  • Must be able to multitask, work with minimal supervision, follow written and oral instructions, show attention to detail, and demonstrate problem-solving skills.
  • Pass post-offer pre-employment drug screen and may be required to satisfactorily complete additional background checks.

Work Environment:
  • May work in varying temperatures, both inside and outside, including inclement weather, heat, humidity, cold, and dampness.
  • May work in areas with exposure to moderate/high noise levels.
  • May be exposed to fumes or airborne particles including dust.
Physical Demands:
  • This role routinely uses construction equipment such as heavy machinery, hand and power tools.
  • While performing duties of the job, the employee may work aloft, climb, bend, pull, reach overhead, stand/walk for long periods of time, and lift up to 50 lbs.
