Position Overview: The selected attorney will engage in matters related to environmental compliance, analysis, and consultation within a dynamic and collaborative work setting. Responsibilities will also include managing various administrative law cases as assigned.
- Employment Type: Full time
- Qualifications: Juris Doctor (JD) from an ABA-accredited law school, with an active bar membership in any US jurisdiction.
- Citizenship: US citizenship is required (dual-national US citizens are eligible).
- Relocation: All candidates must be willing to relocate to the Washington, DC metro area.
- Age Requirement: Must be at least 18 years old.
- Security Clearance: Candidates must be able to complete security and medical evaluations.
Role Responsibilities: As part of the Office of General Counsel (OGC), you will provide legal guidance and policy advice to CIA leadership on complex legal issues that impact the Agency's operations. This includes:
- Conducting legal research and analysis on sensitive environmental matters.
- Offering training on various laws and policies relevant to CIA personnel.
- Fostering productive relationships with other Intelligence Community entities, federal agencies, and congressional committees to advance the CIA's mission.
Key Competencies: Candidates will be evaluated based on the following:
- Legal analysis, reasoning, and writing skills, with the ability to synthesize facts and law for sound decision-making.
- Expertise in complex legal matters.
- Capacity to work independently and collaboratively in a demanding environment.
- Sound judgment in challenging situations.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments and competing priorities effectively.
- Strong interpersonal skills to develop and maintain collaborative relationships.
Desired Experience: The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of three years of experience in environmental law practice.
- Familiarity with major environmental statutes, including the National Environmental Policy Act, the Clean Air Act, and the Clean Water Act.
- Experience in environmental permitting, enforcement, and litigation.
- Prior experience in private practice or federal government environmental law.
