Optical Engineer

As an Optical Engineer - Design and Development at Photonics Group, you will play a key role in driving innovation and delivering cutting-edge optical solutions.

Estimated Salary:$140,000 per year

In this position, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical mounts, alignments, and housings. You will work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration and meet customer requirements.

Main Responsibilities:

• Design and develop advanced optical mounts and aligners
• Collaborate with mechanical, manufacturing, and optical engineers to drive innovation
• Conduct thorough testing and validation of optical components and assemblies
• Develop and maintain expertise in optical mounting, alignment, and stray light mitigation

To be considered for this role, you should have a minimum of 5 years of experience in related work areas, preferably in mechanical or optical engineering. A strong background in CAD design, GD&T, and tolerance analysis is also essential. Proficiency in reliability modeling, thermal simulation, and shock/vibe testing is required.

Nice to Have Skills:

• Experience with injection molded parts and 3D printing
• Hands-on experience with optical alignment, metrology, and prototype builds
• Proficiency in OpticsStudio/OpticsBuilder
