Job Title:

Chair, Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine

Job Summary:

The UK College of Medicine seeks a visionary leader to serve as the Chair of the Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of excellence in academic medicine, with a strong focus on pathology and laboratory medicine. The Chair will be responsible for implementing the organization's strategic plans, achieving department excellence in quality measurements, and serving as a liaison between the department and the enterprise.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work collaboratively with leadership to create an infrastructure for high-quality clinical care, incorporating scholarly and teaching activities.
  • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships with clinical leadership, patients, and external entities to foster opportunities for revenue enhancement, enhanced customer service, and positive impact on core clinical measures.
  • Define improved standards of department protocols, goals, and methods for implementation, reflecting the department's vision for regional and national standing as a leader in academic medicine in pathology.
  • Oversee quality management and provider performance, including physicians, fellows, and residents.
  • Recruit and mentor individuals of character into a culture of respect, kindness, and professionalism, where teamwork, innovation, and work satisfaction thrive.
Requirements:
  • National recognition through involvement in academic and professional societies at a national level.
  • Demonstrated leadership in administrative positions in medical school or an academic medical center setting.
  • Proven record of recruitment and retention of talent.
  • Eligibility for medical licensure in Kentucky.

  • Experience developing collaborative initiatives and promoting trust among colleagues and the broader University faculty.
  • Impeccable integrity and effective communication skills.
