Position Summary
This recruitment is aimed at filling a part-time Laboratory Assistant position under the Federal Work Study program within the Barbar Lab, part of the Department of Biochemistry & Biophysics. This role is exclusively available to eligible work study students.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist in the overall management of laboratory operations, including the organization of physical and chemical inventories, consumables, and equipment.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently.
- Conduct basic calculations for preparing cell culture media, buffers, and solutions.
- Maintain cleanliness of laboratory surfaces and equipment, including the use of dishwashers and autoclaves for sterilization.
- Complete additional tasks as assigned by laboratory supervisors.
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be currently enrolled in a high school, community college, or university.
- Must meet academic standing requirements; students on academic suspension are ineligible for employment.
- Must maintain the applicable minimal enrollment standard based on educational level.
Additional Required Qualifications
- Must be enrolled in a Federal Work Study program with at least half-time status.
- Detail-oriented, organized, and dependable.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
- Must follow written and verbal instructions accurately.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in laboratory settings is advantageous.
