About the Role

Atrium Health is seeking a skilled Care Coordinator to join our team. As a Care Coordinator, you will play a critical role in ensuring seamless patient care by coordinating referrals, authorizations, and scheduling.

Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate referrals for patients and collaborate with referring and receiving practices and/or departments to ensure timely and effective care.
  • Prepare and coordinate financial estimates for patients, ensuring transparency and clarity in billing and insurance processes.
  • Obtain all necessary authorizations and approvals to facilitate patient care.
  • Direct patients to providers within their insurance plan, ensuring access to necessary care and services.
  • Review benefits and educate patients on insurance coverage, empowering them to make informed decisions about their care.
  • Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, or other services within various departments, working closely with internal and ancillary providers.
  • Review schedules and confirm accuracy, ensuring proper allocation of time and resources.
  • Follow up on all referrals to identify and address any care gaps, ensuring comprehensive and continuous care.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required; computer experience and knowledge of medical records software preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of insurance coverage, including FSC, coverage, and plan types, as well as medical necessity policies.
  • Excellent customer service skills and ability to work in a fast-paced office environment.
