Job SummaryThe Occupational Therapist will work with children diagnosed with medical conditions that place them at risk for developmental delays and disabilities. You will provide intensive intervention in our pediatric day healthcare clinics, using evidence-based techniques to assess and treat fine motor delays and disorders. You may also provide supervision to occupational therapy assistants and travel to other KIDS FIRST locations as needed.
Responsibilities- Provide fine motor assessment and treatment using evidence-based techniques in a naturalistic, developmentally appropriate manner.
- Evaluate children to determine fine motor skills, visual perceptual motor skills, sensory processing, and self-help skills, as well as upper extremity strength, range of motion, muscle tone, dynamic sitting/standing balance, and trunk stability.
- Develop and implement treatment plans based on assessment results, using evidence-based techniques and adaptive equipment as needed.
- Monitor progress and make modifications to treatment plans as needed.
- Document services provided in a professional, timely manner, including billing documents according to KIDS FIRST and Medicaid guidelines.
- Collaborate and communicate with families, other therapists, nurses, social workers, director, developmental staff, and contractors to provide the best quality of care and optimal outcomes for each child.
- Support the academic mission of the Kids First program, including participation in the training of students and pre-service professionals, education and outreach to stakeholders, families served, and community partners.
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy.
- Two years of experience in Occupational Therapy.
- Certified by the National Board for Certification of Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) or eligible to apply for the examination.
- Current Arkansas Occupational Therapy License or eligible to obtain license within 1 month of date of hire.
- Intermediate computer skills.
