Position Summary:
The Senior Battery Thermal Management Design & Release Engineer will be instrumental in developing strategies for pack thermal systems, overseeing design validation, and ensuring the successful release of high-voltage battery packs for new energy vehicles and integrated vehicle body structures.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the development of thermal management system solutions, from initial concept through to design and release, ensuring alignment with requirements, scope, cost estimates, and feasibility studies.
- Design and finalize the thermal system structure for high-voltage battery packs, including subcomponent structures and vehicle mounting interfaces.
- Conduct thermal performance analysis using CAE tools, correlate physical tests, draft test plans, and optimize designs.
- Facilitate the transition of thermal management systems and components from design to manufacturing, addressing any technical issues that arise during production.
- Develop thermal modeling for all associated components, ensuring compliance with GD&T standards.
- Collaborate with supply chain and supplier quality teams to guarantee timely and quality delivery of parts, ensuring all necessary analyses and tests are completed.
- Select and source mechanical and thermal components for high-voltage battery systems.
- Conduct risk and hazard reviews utilizing DFMEA and PFMEAs.
- Lead thermal CAE efforts and support validation processes to ensure design quality meets performance specifications.
- Coordinate resources to build and deliver prototype battery packs on schedule and within targets.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Vehicle Engineering, Energy and Power Engineering, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of heat transfer, thermodynamic principles, and fluid mechanics is advantageous.
- Proficiency in CATIA, SolidWorks, or Pro/E for product design is required.
- Familiarity with thermal simulation requirements for power batteries and energy storage systems.
- Expertise in 3D simulation tools, 1D simulation software, and structural design software.
- Ability to identify problems, propose solutions, and implement contingency plans effectively.
- Knowledge of various thermal mass materials and alternative technologies, with essential DFM/DFA skills.
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in high-voltage battery design, automotive design, or related fields.
- Strong communication skills in English, both oral and written, along with good presentation abilities.
- Experience in Li-ion battery cell, module, and pack design; CTP/CTC experience is a plus.
- Demonstrated project management capabilities.
- Strong teamwork skills, with a focus on developing consensus and achieving win-win outcomes.

Compensation:
The base pay range for this role is between $100,000 and $140,000 USD, depending on skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
