Responsibilities

  • Prioritizes and manages tasks, usually prescribed by project leaders.
  • Prepares and maintains accurate and detailed documentation for radiochemical processes.
  • Performs work under general supervision, with regular reviews for sound judgment, overall adequacy, and accuracy.
  • Work is typically limited to a well-defined area of a project or specific assignment, with opportunities for process leadership and project meetings.
  • Effectively communicates radiochemical work in project meetings, builds and maintains relationships with customers, and provides process leadership as part of project task activity.
Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, and 4 years of relevant experience, or
  • Technical Institute Graduate (TIG) or relevant AA degree or higher, and 2 years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Analytical radiochemistry experience, including quantitative radiochemical separations.
  • Experience working under ASME-NQA-2008/2009 and addendum and ISO/IEC 17025:2005 or 217 quality assurance programs.
  • Experience in radiochemical counting techniques, such as gross alpha/beta and liquid scintillation counting, alpha energy analysis, and gamma energy analysis.
  • Analytical skills with ICP-MS, ICP-OES, GC-MS, ion chromatographic methods, spectrometry, total organic carbon, wet chemistry testing, wastewater testing, air particulate testing, and radiochemistry.
  • Knowledge of standard methods, ASME, industrial hygiene, EPA SW-846 RCRA methods, and air chemistry methods.

Hazardous Working Conditions/Environment:

  • Candidate will be trained and must perform to Radiation Worker standards (Radiological Worker II), as well as building and project procedures for managing radioactive and hazardous materials.
  • Occasional off-shift work, evenings, nights, and weekends may be required.
  • Heavy lifting, up to 40 lbs., may be needed occasionally.
