Job Overview

Supervisory Duties:

This role does not entail direct supervision or management of a team.

Position Overview

The ideal Switcher will efficiently and safely relocate trailers within the facility, ensuring timely operations in a dynamic environment. Additionally, they will provide assistance to dock and other labor teams as required.

Core Responsibilities

  • Transport 18-wheelers between docks within the premises
  • Maintain a secure working environment
  • Coordinate with dock personnel, drivers, and fellow switchers across the facility
  • Perform yard inspections
  • Operate the fuel truck as necessary
  • Execute dock tasks as assigned
  • Fulfill other responsibilities as directed by management

Essential Qualifications

  • Minimum of 1 year experience operating a switcher or OTR trailer
  • Detail-oriented, dependable, capable of multitasking, and a collaborative team member

Physical Requirements:

  • Valid driver's license permitting operation in the respective state

Work Environment & Physical Demands

This position primarily involves outdoor work but may require transitions between locations and indoor office settings for administrative tasks, necessitating the use of computers and standard office equipment. Proficiency in reading, writing, and understanding English is mandatory. The role requires adaptability to various outdoor conditions, including exposure to dust and allergens. Occasional work on scaffolding may be necessary. The position demands sustained abilities for standing, sitting, squatting, bending, reaching, and twisting regularly to accomplish essential tasks. Candidates must be capable of operating all necessary machinery within the department and across the facility, including but not limited to the appropriate switcher trucks. The ability to consistently lift up to 30 pounds unassisted is required.
