VitalCore Health Strategies is a leader in correctional healthcare, and we are seeking a highly skilled Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to join our team at Mecklenburg County Detention Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.

Job Summary

The successful candidate will provide comprehensive psychiatric care to a diverse patient population, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized treatment plans that address the complex mental health needs of patients.

Responsibilities
  • Provide consultations and assessments to manage and stabilize emergent problems
  • Collaborate with behavioral health staff to determine the need for psychotropic medication
  • Review treatment plans for patients on behavioral health observation units and those receiving medication
  • Participate in case conferences and treatment planning for patients receiving or being considered for behavioral health treatment
  • Conduct behavioral health evaluations, assessments, and follow-up care
  • Collaborate with behavioral health staff on patient diagnosis and treatment
  • Participate in various treatment modalities as required by the behavioral health service
  • Participate in medical and behavioral health rounds as assigned
  • Assign tasks to team members as needed
  • Lead group sessions on behavioral health observation units, including medication compliance groups
Requirements

To be considered for this role, applicants must:

  • Be a licensed Nurse Practitioner in the State of employment
  • Demonstrate clinical competence and leadership abilities, such as decision-making, problem-solving, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Have a minimum of one year of clinical nursing practice in a behavioral health setting, with correctional experience preferred

Estimated Salary

The estimated salary range for this position is $120,000 - $150,000 per year, depending on experience.
