Job Description:

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a skilled Electrical Engineering Scientist to join our team, focusing on Electromagnetic Effects (EME) within the aerospace sector.

This role involves providing essential engineering analysis and support for both military and commercial aircraft development. The successful candidate will engage in defining EME requirements, offering design assistance, and facilitating integration and testing processes.

The EME Engineering team is tasked with addressing various design support areas, including but not limited to lightning protection, grounding, bonding, shielding, electromagnetic interference (EMI), electromagnetic compatibility (EMC), and antenna analysis, all adhering to MIL-STD-464 standards.

We are looking for individuals who demonstrate a strong work ethic, technical expertise, and excellent interpersonal skills. The ideal candidate will also exhibit critical thinking abilities and adaptability to changing project needs.

The Electrical Engineering Scientist will oversee team members, delegate tasks, and spearhead projects aimed at enhancing departmental capabilities. Responsibilities include planning training initiatives, mentoring new employees, and ensuring effective communication with the Aero Engineering team.


Key Responsibilities:

- Provide comprehensive EME design support across various domains, including lightning, grounding, bonding, shielding, and EMI/EMC compliance.
- Collaborate with electrical and mechanical engineering experts to develop and refine system functionality and performance.
- Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to enhance engineering efficiency and reduce production costs.
- Coordinate with certification authorities regarding EME activities throughout program execution.
- Lead the development of technical proposals and solutions, contributing to documentation and cost estimation efforts.

- Conduct research and development initiatives to explore new technologies and improve existing processes within the electrical engineering department.
- Communicate staffing needs and project statuses to upper management, fostering a culture of expertise and continuous improvement.


Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree with a minimum of 12 years of relevant experience, or a Graduate Degree with at least 10 years of related experience. Equivalent experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Top Secret (SCI) security clearance, requiring U.S. Citizenship.

- Proficient in EME modeling tools such as FEKO, HFSS, and CST Studio, with a solid understanding of environmental qualification requirements.
- Experience managing large-scale projects and leading teams of engineers effectively.

- Strong computer skills, particularly with Microsoft Office Suite, and prior experience in a supervisory or technical leadership role.


Preferred Skills:

- Familiarity with FAA certification processes and military aircraft design requirements.
- Knowledge of CAD and PLM software, along with experience in systems integration and validation.

- Results-driven leader with a proven track record in managing program lifecycles, including proposal development and risk management.

- Excellent communication skills, capable of presenting technical information to diverse audiences.
