Responsibilities:

  • Provide continuous product advisory for new features across a range of Instagram Products, including enhancements to our Reels video platform, media creation tools, and recommendation systems.
  • Facilitate the introduction of new products by offering policy guidance on matters related to safety, fairness, and human rights.
  • Identify, track, and evaluate policy challenges impacting these products at local, national, and international levels in collaboration with the Instagram Public Policy team.
  • Recognize emerging policy development needs, draft relevant policies, and collaborate with operations teams to establish enforcement processes as necessary for product features.
  • Address escalations and media inquiries associated with supported products.
  • Collaborate across various business lines, including policy functions, to ensure a unified policy approach.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Administration, Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of pertinent work experience in technology (product development), policy, law, media, government, or journalism, focusing on products, technology, media regulation, and/or news publishing.
  • Familiarity with the product development lifecycle and product teams.
  • Experience with algorithmic transparency issues.
  • Proven ability to work cross-functionally and build consensus, including managing multi-stakeholder projects.
  • Demonstrated analytical thinking and problem-solving capabilities.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Advanced degree in Public Policy, Public Affairs, Public Administration, Legal Studies, Political Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in or with the technology sector.
  • Experience with online products, including messaging and video broadcasting platforms.
  • Experience in policy development and/or policy advisory roles.
  • Experience in conducting policy risk assessments for new products.
  • Experience managing escalations and/or time-sensitive issues.
