Propulsion Systems Engineer

At SpaceX, we're pushing the boundaries of space exploration and development. As a Propulsion Systems Engineer, you'll play a critical role in designing and developing the fluid systems that enable our interplanetary vehicles to perform at their best.
Key Responsibilities:- Design, analyze, and build feedline systems to feed Raptor engines on Starship
- Sizing vehicle feedline components and performing structural analysis to ensure survivability
- Developing 3D models and releasing associated drawings, design documentation, and reports
- Collaborating with the fluid team to define loads and implement them in analysis
- Working closely with the manufacturing and build team to ensure designs are suitable for mass production
- Optimizing feed system components design for mass and cost
- Coordinating and executing development, qualification, and acceptance testing of flight hardware
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, structural engineering, or other engineering discipline
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical or structural design, analysis, modeling, and drafting
- 3+ years of experience with commercial FEA packages (e.g. ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN)
- Master's degree in an engineering field
- Experience with large assembly finite element analysis (non-linear FEA and coupled fluid-structural analysis)
- Background in cryogenic fluid mechanics and heat transfer analysis
- Experience with pressurized components (valves, regulators, tubes, pipes, etc.)
- Experience with Siemens NX or similar CAD package
- This position is based at Starbase, Texas (Brownsville/South Padre Island area), and requires being onsite
- Ability to perform hands-on work in all environments (heat, cold, rain), in tight quarters or at heights
- Ability to work extended hours and weekends as needed; flexibility required
Base salary is just one part of your total rewards package at SpaceX.
