Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology

This is a unique opportunity to join the Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery at SIU HealthCare as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology. The successful candidate will be a highly skilled and conscientious practitioner of Otolaryngology, with a strong commitment to teaching, research, and service.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology will be responsible for:
- Assisting in the administrative functions of the Department of Otolaryngology, working with the Chair to develop systems of supervision and evaluation of residents and medical students.
- Representing the Department in Departmental, School, University, and community matters in the Chairman's absence.
- Helping to develop specialized clinics related to the field of Otolaryngology, where appropriate, in conjunction with the School of Medicine.
- Serving as a role model in the teaching of Otolaryngology to students.
- Developing and implementing programs in Otolaryngology for national distribution.
- Developing and implementing evaluation methods for students, residents in Otolaryngology, and other residents rotating through Otolaryngology.
- Supervising research by medical students, residents in Otolaryngology.
- Promoting research and scholarly activities within the Department by example and encouragement.
- Demonstrating, by actions, commitment to the mission and the behavioral standards of SIU School of Medicine.
- Providing excellent service to both internal and external customers through collaboration and partnership; compassion and respect; integrity and accountability; diversity and inclusion; as well as continuous learning and improvement.
The successful candidate will possess:
- Sensitivity to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Graduation from an accredited medical school program.
- Successful completion of a Urology residency program.
- License to practice medicine in the State of Illinois or eligibility for such licensure.
