Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced occupational therapist to join our faculty as an Assistant/Associate/Full Professor in the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) program at the School of Health Sciences, Southern Illinois University Carbondale.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach occupational therapy courses, including classroom, laboratory, and clinical instruction, as assigned.
  • Develop and implement curriculum for the OTD program, ensuring alignment with ACOTE standards.
  • Conduct scholarly research and produce creative activities in occupational therapy, consistent with School of Health Sciences expectations.
  • Participate in professional practice, seminars, and workshops to maintain up-to-date skills in occupational therapy.
  • Maintain a teaching, research, and service assignment consistent with the workload of a tenure-track faculty position.
  • Contribute to program evaluation, student advisement, and recruitment efforts.
Requirements
  • Doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field by start date.
  • Minimum of 3 years of full-time academic appointment with teaching responsibilities at the post-secondary education level.
  • Occupational therapy experience in adult neuro, mental health, pediatric, and/or behavioral health practice.
  • Certified by the Board of Certification as an Occupational Therapist and licensed or eligible for license as an Occupational Therapist in the state of Illinois by start date.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Established research agenda and scholarly achievement in occupational therapy.
  • Involvement in scholarly research and creative activities within the occupational therapy arena.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of educational theory and methodology.
  • Understanding of the current ACOTE Standards.
