Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide exceptional customer service to guests, ensuring a pleasant dining experience.
  • Answer phone calls in a timely manner, addressing guest inquiries and concerns.
  • Seat guests at clean, available tables, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
  • Adhere to seating guidelines to ensure fair distribution among servers.
  • Greet guests warmly, providing superior customer service and a positive first impression.
  • Assist servers with taking orders and ensuring guest needs are met.
  • Monitor dining areas for seating availability, service quality, and guest safety.
  • Support servers as needed, maintaining a team-oriented approach.
  • Thank guests upon departure, inviting them to return and wishing them a fond farewell.
  • Manage reservations, utilizing OpenTable to ensure seamless guest experiences.
  • Develop a working knowledge of menu and beverage offerings, effectively communicating with culinary staff.
  • Perform opening and closing duties, maintaining a clean and organized work environment.
  • Contribute to a positive, outgoing team culture during service.
  • Emphasize safety awareness, promoting the well-being of oneself, colleagues, and guests.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures, upholding the standards of Marcus Samuelsson Restaurant Group.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management, demonstrating flexibility and adaptability.

Requirements:

  • Prior experience as a host or in a front-of-house role in a high-volume restaurant setting.
  • Excellent customer service, cash handling, service recovery, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in computer systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, managing guest needs and expectations.
  • Capacity to work collaboratively with colleagues throughout the restaurant.
  • Passion for hospitality and a love of the food and beverage industry.
  • Flexibility to work a varied schedule.
  • Ability to lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing up to 25 pounds, with frequent bending, reaching, and twisting.
