Job Title: School Aide

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated School Aide to join our team at Amergis. As a School Aide, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Follow IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, as well as managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
  • Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
  • Assist students in general education classes and communicate pertinent information to teachers.
  • Accompany students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
  • Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
  • Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
  • Help students develop independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
  • May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
  • Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
  • Assist with transfers and ambulation.
  • Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
Requirements:
  • Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
  • Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
  • Current CPR if applicable.
  • TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
  • Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
  • Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
  • Computer proficiency required.
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
