School Support Assistant

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated School Aide to join our team at Amergis. As a School Aide, you will work closely with students who require instructional and behavioral assistance under the supervision of the special education department.
Key Responsibilities:- Follow IEP objectives, including math, reading, speech, and independent skills, as well as managing behavioral deficits and excesses.
- Facilitate teacher-directed learning activities, including lesson plans, worksheets, reinforcement systems, small groups, social games, and work assistance.
- Assist students in general education classes and communicate pertinent information to teachers.
- Accompany students during recess and lunch periods, as well as community experiences.
- Adhere to confidentiality requirements regarding student, parent, and classroom activities.
- Assist with activities of prescribed programs, including those written by related service personnel.
- Help students develop independent skills through self-care activities, such as toileting, clothing routines, feeding, and personal hygiene.
- May be asked to assist in behavior management techniques at the direction of the teacher and/or other school professional.
- Assist with clerical duties, including making stimuli, making copies, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, preparing materials, and assignment scoring.
- Assist with transfers and ambulation.
- Report changes in client status or as directed by IHP/IEP.
- Comply with all relevant professional standards of practice.
- Participate and complete Amergis' Competency program when applicable.
- Current CPR if applicable.
- TB questionnaire, PPD, or chest x-ray if applicable.
- Current Health certificate (per contract or state regulation).
- Meet all federal, state, and local requirements.
- Successful completion of new hire training as applicable to job site.
- Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAA requirements.
- Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to and from appropriate individuals via strong communication skills; proficiency in the English language is required.
- Computer proficiency required.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
