Realty/Recreation Special Uses Administrator Internship

Location: Ketchum, Idaho

Position Description:

This internship is designed to prepare the incumbent for progressive work assignments related to administering and executing projects for special uses activities. The intent is to convert this position to permanent at the conclusion of the internship.

Duties:
  • Assist public in application process and screening of new proposals. Compile information for rational decision making for the Rec Program Manager and District Ranger to review.
  • Serve as Realty/Lands Permit Administrator trainee for recreation residences, linear right of ways, communication uses, power lines, etc.
  • Serve as Recreation Permit Administrator trainee for outfitter and guides, recreation events, noncommercial use and commercial filming.
  • Ketchum Ranger District database coordinator, ensure database is up to date and completes billing for all special uses.
  • Work with Supervisor Office/Regional Office staff to ensure permits are being administered to national standards.
Desirable Qualifications:

The applicant will need to be open to working in a dynamic work environment with changing priorities. A well-qualified candidate will be organized, possess excellent communication skills, and be excited to engage with permitees on a daily basis. Working within databases and keeping organized file structures will be a component of this job. Additionally, doing site visits in an outdoor environment will be encouraged. Training on all aspects of this job will be overseen by a long tenured Forest Service Supervisor.

Benefits:
  • $12.50/hr for 40-hour workweeks
  • $1,000/month Housing Stipend
  • Up to $2,750 available for Forest Service work travel, orientation, trainings, professional development opportunities that align with RA role and goals
