Key Responsibilities
  • Handle complex estate planning and estate and trust administration matters
  • Develop and implement estate tax strategies and trust administration procedures
  • Draft wills, trusts, operating and shareholder agreements, and other estate planning documents
  • Quantify tax impacts of estate and business succession plans and work on estate and trust administration matters
  • Address procedural and disputed matters, including structuring the administration plan and supervising the preparation of accountings and estate, gift, and fiduciary income tax returns
  • Consult with clients, accountants, financial advisors, and other parties to effectively move cases forward
  • Cultivate strong client relationships and provide empathetic advice and reassurance during stressful times
  • Report on caseload at regular intervals and develop a client following to increase the firm's revenues
Requirements
  • J.D. from an accredited law school and licensed with the New Jersey and Pennsylvania State Bars
  • LLM in taxation (or in the process of obtaining same)
  • 3+ years of estate planning experience handling matters from inception to conclusion, including meeting with clients, developing a strategy for an estate plan, and preparing the appropriate estate plan documents to meet the client's objectives
  • Effective, clear, concise, and accurate communication, both oral and written, at an appropriate level to the situation and the client
  • Working knowledge of finance, investments, and taxes
  • Ability to focus under pressure and willingness to do what needs to be done
  • Demonstrate a high degree of discretion, confidentiality, and integrity in the handling of personal client information, including following the Rules of Professional Conduct
  • Strong computer skills with extensive experience using MS Office Suite, timekeeping, and case management software
  • Business acumen and ability to build and maintain client relationships
