Job Description

The Program Director of Medical Imaging is a key leadership position responsible for the overall success of the Radiologic Technology, Diagnostic Medical Sonography, and Echocardiography Programs. This includes managing and maintaining accreditation standards, faculty selection and supervision, curriculum development and improvement, student recruitment and problem-solving, and program outcomes assessment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Developing and administering the annual program budget
  • Ensuring faculty and staff are appropriately credentialed and meeting basic expectations
  • Assignment of faculty to courses and evaluation of faculty and staff
  • Mentoring and training faculty and staff
  • Participating in recruitment and search committees
  • Providing students with timely response to concerns and ensuring appropriate advisement
  • Monitoring program enrollment trends and participating in outreach and recruitment activities
  • Developing and maintaining an outcomes assessment plan to improve program quality
  • Providing communication and information to internal and external constituents about program offerings and activities

Requirements:

  • RT(R), ARRT certification
  • Minimum of three years' work experience in the imaging field
  • Minimum of two years' experience as an Instructor in a JRCERT accredited program in Radiologic Technology
  • Earned Master's degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Preferred qualifications include an earned Doctorate in Health Science or a Degree relevant to Higher Education

Resources:

  • Developing, maintaining, and managing program budgets
  • Determining appropriate levels of critical resources and ensuring financial support
  • Participating in institutional advancement activities, grants, and other sources of funding

Faculty/Staff:

  • Ensuring faculty and staff are appropriately credentialed and meeting basic expectations
  • Assignment of faculty to courses and evaluation of faculty and staff
  • Mentoring and training faculty and staff
  • Participating in recruitment and search committees

Students:

  • Providing students with timely response to concerns and ensuring appropriate advisement
  • Ensuring that students in the program are receiving appropriate support services

Curriculum:

  • Responsibility for planning, implementation, and evaluation of program curriculum
  • Evaluating program status in relation to New York State inventory of registered programs
  • Keeping up with external trends that might impact the currency of the curriculum

Enrollment:

  • Monitoring program enrollment trends
  • Participating with admissions and enrollment management to provide enrollment forecasts

Outcomes Assessment:

  • Ensuring that all faculty measure, report on, and apply the results of college student learning outcomes within their courses
  • Developing and maintaining an outcomes assessment plan to improve program quality

Communication:

  • Providing communication and information to internal and external constituents about program offerings and activities
  • Completing an annual report that provides information on program strengths and weaknesses

Planning / New Program Development:

  • Developing short- and long-term plans related to the future direction of the program
  • Contribute to the development of new program ideas and new ways of presenting the current program

Currency:

  • Demonstrates evidence of maintaining currency in the program discipline and/or in trends in higher education
  • Maintains a Program Advisory Council that provides feedback on program currency
  • Monitors external changes that may impact the program, its graduates, and its curriculum
