As a Construction Project Supervisor at Flatiron Construction, you will be responsible for overseeing, coordinating, and managing the workforce and production activities on a significant construction initiative.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee assigned project tasks and act as a liaison between field engineering, estimating, and workforce to ensure adherence to project specifications and contract requirements.
- Develop work methodologies, assess material and equipment needs, and establish work schedules for project activities. Regularly review daily schedules with team members and adjust weekly plans based on project insights.
- Analyze project specifications to facilitate job setup processes. Collaborate with work crews, field engineers, and local utility services to pinpoint hazardous conditions on-site.
- Anticipate scheduling challenges and offer technical or scheduling solutions to address potential production delays.
- Provide technical guidance to identify and mitigate project risks, including construction techniques, work plans, material needs, safety protocols, and scheduling tasks. Maintain documentation of daily operations and meeting summaries using company-approved methods.
- Complete additional tasks as directed by management.
- Present the production work strategy during initial project meetings to ensure alignment among all project teams and leaders.
- Collaborate with internal equipment teams and external suppliers to guarantee that project activities are equipped with the necessary tools and materials to achieve production goals within budget and timelines.
- Work with internal and external departments to ensure all required inspections are conducted within specified timeframes.
- Promote and enforce strict adherence to safety protocols and operational controls regarding equipment usage, site safety, and documentation practices. This includes identifying training needs on-site.
- Supervise subcontractor activities and workforce related to assigned project tasks. Recommend adjustments to work schedules or methods for subcontractor operations as necessary.
- Facilitate project closeout activities in accordance with company standards and owner checklist requirements.
- Maintain an understanding of company values and strategic objectives.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in heavy civil construction.
- At least 5 years of experience in construction management.
- A Bachelor's Degree is advantageous.
- Safety Trained Supervisor (STS) certification is preferred.
- Possession of a valid Driver's License.
- Excellent written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
- Demonstrated leadership abilities with a commitment to mentoring and developing internal talent.
- Growing expertise in specialized construction fields.
- In-depth knowledge of construction equipment operation and maintenance standards.
- Strong understanding of construction site safety regulations and proven capability to enforce safety programs.
- Familiarity with local union or prevailing wage regulations.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret technical standards and contract-specific plans.
- Proficiency in mathematical concepts such as probability, statistics, and geometry, with the ability to apply these concepts to practical scenarios.
- Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to gather data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
