ResponsibilitiesThe Senior Estate Planning attorney will be responsible for:
- Executing case strategy with associate attorneys, paralegals, clients, and support staff.
- Managing complex estate and tax planning, including drafting estate planning instruments such as wills and trusts and filing gift tax returns.
- Managing complex probate and trust administration matters, including overseeing the entire administration process and preparing federal and state estate tax returns.
- Researching complex tax issues.
- Managing their own caseload.
- Keeping clients informed by maintaining regular contact, communicating case progress, working with Certified Public Accounts, Financial Advisors, insurance brokers, beneficiaries, and other legal counsel.
- Providing mentorship to associate attorneys.
- Attending business development and networking functions with firm leadership and solo.
- At least 8 years' experience practicing estate planning in Oregon.
- Demonstrated knowledge of complex estate and tax planning.
- An active Oregon State Bar membership.
- Washington State Bar membership, a plus.
- A LLM in tax planning, a plus.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Exceptional client service skills, including the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Detail-oriented and set high standards for accuracy.
- Demonstrated experience with Microsoft 365.
- Experience preparing and filing estate tax returns (federal and state) and gift tax returns.
- Strong interpersonal, organizational, analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills required.
- Ability to maintain strict confidentiality of all employee and company information.
- Ability to handle a heavy caseload.
- Dependable.
- Willing to supervise staff and attorneys within practice group.
