Position Overview:
As a Respiratory Care Specialist, you will apply scientific methodologies to identify, prevent, and address pulmonary and cardiopulmonary issues. Your role will involve collaborating with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes through effective airway management and emergency response.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer medical gases and aerosolized treatments.
  • Conduct pulmonary function assessments, including spirometry and exercise oximetry testing.
  • Engage in cardiopulmonary resuscitation as part of a collaborative code team.
  • Educate patients and families on respiratory care practices and related health concerns.
  • Provide consultation and training on respiratory matters to healthcare providers.
  • Perform routine maintenance and quality control on pulmonary function testing equipment.
  • Document all patient care activities and treatment responses in the electronic medical record.
  • Maintain departmental records, including competencies and certifications.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned by the Director of the Respiratory Care Department.

Qualifications:
  • Current certifications: BLS, PALS, NRP, and ACLS.
  • Certification as a Principal Investigator (CPI) from the National Institutes of Health (NIH).
  • Comprehensive understanding of anatomy, physiology, and medical terminology.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and possess strong technical skills.
  • Passion for delivering exceptional patient care.
  • Minimum of two years of recent experience as a Respiratory Therapist.
  • Graduate from an accredited Respiratory Therapist program.
  • Active, unencumbered Massachusetts state license for Respiratory Therapy.
  • One year of experience with Epic electronic health records.
  • Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) certification from the N.B.R.C.

  • Completion of COVID vaccination series, including booster.
