Job Summary

We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Technician to join our team at the University of New Mexico. As a Mental Health Technician, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide direct patient care and support to individuals with mental health needs, including assisting with daily living activities and providing emotional support.
  • Assist with the development and implementation of patient treatment plans, including coordinating with treatment teams and providing education to patients and families.
  • Chart patient observations and other required documentation, following established procedures and standards.
  • Assist with physical needs of patients, including taking vital signs and assisting with medical procedures.
  • Participate in crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques to ensure patient safety.
  • Collaborate with treatment teams to provide comprehensive patient care and support.
  • Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to HIPAA guidelines.
Requirements
  • High School or GED Equivalent
  • Training in mental health or a related field
  • 1/2 year (6 months) directly related experience
  • CPR for Healthcare/BLS Provider or Professional Rescuer certification
  • Aggressive Behavior Certification within 30 days of hire
Working Conditions

This position requires working in a fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions and exposure to potentially hazardous materials. The ability to work effectively in a team environment and maintain confidentiality is essential.
