We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Certified Medical Assistant to join our Orthopaedics Clinic team at the University of New Mexico - Hospitals. Key Responsibilities- Collect and record patient data, including medical history and vital signs
- Perform various front and back office clerical duties, such as scheduling appointments and verifying medical coverage
- Prepare instruments for sterilization and maintain a sanitary work area
- Coordinate and schedule patient appointments and communicate with providers as needed
- Perform basic cashiering duties and collect monies for various activities
- Assist with patient care, including preparation for treatment procedures and phlebotomy
- Enter data into computer systems and verify accuracy
- Provide quality customer service and ensure patient satisfaction
- High School diploma or equivalent required
- Graduate of a medical assisting program or 2 years of experience as a medical assistant
- CPR certification for healthcare providers required within 30 days of hire
- Current certification as a medical assistant (CMA, RMA, AMT, AAMA, NRCMA, CCMA, etc.)
This is a heavy work position that requires exerting 50 to 100 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 25 to 50 pounds of force frequently, and/or 10 to 20 pounds of force constantly to move objects or people. The position may also require rotating work shifts and limited access to the medical room.
