Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Ohio Gastroenterology Group Inc. as an Endoscopy LPN. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and assisting with endoscopic procedures in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare rooms and assist with diagnostic/therapeutic endoscopic procedures, ensuring that all necessary equipment and supplies are available.
  • Test equipment prior to procedures to ensure it is functioning properly.
  • Assist physicians and registered nurses with endoscopic procedures, maintaining a high level of professionalism and attention to detail.
  • Protect confidential and privileged information according to Center policy, promoting patient-centered care.
  • Prepare specimens for lab and document patient information accurately.
  • Provide patient care, including vital sign monitoring, patient preparation, and post-procedure care.
  • Adhere to infection control principles and apply universal precautions to maintain a safe environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
Requirements
  • Graduate of an approved School of Practical Nursing, with current licensure to practice as an L.P.N. in the state of Ohio.
  • Successful completion of an approved Pharmacology Course, NAPNES certification, OOPNES certification of Ohio Board of Nursing Card.
  • Successful completion of an approved intravenous OBN Therapy course.
  • Previous hospital or outpatient experience within the past 3-5 years required.
  • Special training and/or experience in endoscopic procedures preferred.
  • Effective communication and listening skills.
  • Knowledge of various computer programs, including internet experience. Electronic Medical Records experience preferred.
Working Conditions

The LPN will work in a fast-paced endoscopy environment, exposed to chemicals and physical demands that meet the definition of HEAVY work. The successful candidate must be able to maintain a high level of physical and mental stamina throughout the workday.

Competencies
  • Maintain CEUs for licensure.
  • Orient to new procedures and equipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining BCLS & ACLS (ACLS if full time).
  • Maintain annual fire safety/general safety training.
  • Maintain annual OSHA-TB.
  • Maintain annual OSHA Blood-borne Pathogen.
  • Maintain annual PPD skin test or TB Screening Form.
  • Maintain annual competency in conscious sedation.
  • Participate in Continuous Quality Improvement Program.
  • Must complete annual performance evaluation and return in a timely manner, including competency skills checklist.
  • Attends and participates in at least 75% of staff meetings and reviews minutes of those meetings not attended.
  • Seeks professional development opportunities based on individual learning or developmental needs.
