Job Summary

The Senior Accountant will be responsible for managing the general accounting and financial operations for Vital Voices Global Partnership. This position requires strong knowledge of accounting principles, including 990 preparation, audit preparation, reconciliations, general accounting, credit card expense reports, payroll, and accounts payable.

Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and file Form 990 and other required tax filings in compliance with regulatory guidelines.
  • Assist in audit preparation, including gathering supporting documents, reconciliations, and providing necessary explanations to auditors.
  • Perform monthly reconciliations of bank accounts and other financial statements to ensure accuracy and completeness.
  • Conduct annual NICRA calculations and submit necessary documentation in accordance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
  • Oversee general accounting functions, including journal entries, accruals, and adjustments.
  • Manage the credit card expense reporting process, ensuring timely submission, review, and reconciliation of employee expense reports.
  • Review and process semi-monthly payroll using Paylocity. Ensure accurate pay rates, deductions, employee reimbursements & collections, and terminations based on information provided by Vital Voices.
  • Provide annual budget assistance including the creation of templates, presentations and entry into the general ledger system.
  • Work closely with our third-party vendor to process accounts payable transactions, including vendor invoice verification, payment processing, and maintaining accurate records.
  • Provide financial analysis, reporting, and recommendations to management to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support financial inquiries and general questions.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance or related field required, CPA preferred, plus 4 - 8 years of relevant work experience.
  • Strong knowledge of nonprofit accounting principles, including 990 preparation, audit procedures, and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks, swiftly shift priorities, and work in a dynamic environment with tight deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a dynamic team.
  • Strong computer skills including MS Office applications (esp. Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), database software (i.e., Salesforce), financial systems (Sage Intacct, , Planning Maestro), HRIS systems (Paylocity) and project management software (Asana).
