Job Title: Linux System Engineer

Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Linux Engineer to lead a critical initiative focused on developing Linux Golden Images. This role requires a deep understanding of Linux operating systems, including kernel-level expertise, OS hardening, and automation. The ideal candidate will be responsible for creating, testing, and securing Linux-based operating systems, which will be used internally to support operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Linux Golden Image project, developing OS-specific Golden Images for internal use.
  • Ensure the Linux images are hardened, certified, secured, tested, patched, and provided to internal operations teams.
  • Deep dive into Linux OS at the kernel level to maintain, secure, and optimize system performance.
  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines using GitLab/GitHub for workflow orchestration and automation.
  • Use JFrog Artifactory for repository management to support development and deployment processes.
  • Implement and manage automation tools such as Ansible and Terraform to streamline configuration and infrastructure management.
  • Work with various Linux distributions, including Red Hat, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, and Alma Linux.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure systems meet security, compliance, and performance requirements.

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong expertise in Linux operating systems (Red Hat, Ubuntu, Oracle Linux, Alma Linux) with deep kernel-level understanding.
  • Experience leading OS-related projects, specifically in creating and managing hardened, secure Linux images.
  • Proficiency in CI/CD pipelines and workflow orchestration (GitLab/GitHub).
  • Knowledge of automation tools like Ansible, Terraform, and scripting languages such as Python.
  • Understanding of OS and container images (Kubernetes).
  • Linux Certification (Red Hat, Oracle, etc.) is highly preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
