Denver, Colorado, United States Fastly Full time

Fastly is a leading edge cloud platform that enables customers to create great digital experiences quickly, securely, and reliably. We're looking for a skilled Staff Software Engineer to join our Kernel Engineering team and advance our development processes.

In this role, you will develop and maintain critical tooling that optimizes the software development life cycle for our team of kernel engineers. Your work will directly support the performance and stability of Fastly's low-latency data path, essential to all customer traffic flowing through the Linux kernel and XDP.

As part of the Kernel team, you will help drive the adoption of the latest Linux technologies, while providing essential support for our hardware platform, OCI containers, and Linux OS distributions. Your contributions will be vital in ensuring our systems remain at the forefront of performance and reliability, with a broad impact across the company.

We're looking for someone with 7+ years of experience in software development using one or more programming languages, with 3 of those years leading projects. You should have expertise in advanced deployment and testing methodologies, proficiency in upstream patchset management for large open source projects, and a strong ability to diagnose, design, and develop high-performance networking applications.

Additionally, you should have experience maintaining Linux distributions (Ubuntu, Debian, etc) with a strong focus on enabling and empowering other teams through optimized systems and support. A proven ability to design and implement broadly scoped work, such as a major refactor, new service, or feature used by key accounts, is also essential.

We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, family planning, mental health support, and a flexible vacation policy. We also offer 401(k) and an Employee Stock Purchase Program.

Fastly is a company that values diversity and is committed to creating an inclusive environment for all employees. We're always looking for humble, sharp, and creative folks to join the Fastly team.
