Position Overview
EVONA is seeking a skilled Lead Guidance, Navigation, and Control (GNC) Systems Engineer to become an integral part of our innovative team focused on developing advanced control systems for the transwing platform.
This position encompasses the optimization, simulation, and evaluation of existing transwing systems, alongside the creation of new platform variants.
Key Responsibilities
The primary duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Leading and contributing to the development of GNC-related design specifications
- Conducting analysis, testing, and troubleshooting of control system hardware and software components
- Evaluating systems and flight test data to enhance model accuracy and investigate failures or anomalies
- Modeling aircraft control systems and identifying parameters from flight data
- Engaging in software development, testing, and validation
- Providing onsite support during flight test operations
Required Qualifications
- A BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering or a related field with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience in GNC, flight testing, and systems engineering
- Proven experience in developing control laws for unmanned aerial vehicles or similar systems with a significant level of autonomy
- Strong understanding of traditional fixed-wing, rotary-wing, and multirotor flight dynamics
- Familiarity with concepts and techniques related to inertial navigation systems
- Experience with hardware-in-the-loop (HWIL) testing methodologies
- Proficiency in MATLAB
- Ability to identify and resolve complex issues independently
- US Citizenship or Permanent Resident Status
- Willingness to travel up to 20% within designated regions
Preferred Qualifications & Skills
- A BS/MS in Aerospace Engineering with a focus on controls, dynamics, or simulation
- Experience with Monte Carlo and/or 6DOF simulation techniques
- Background in UAS design, construction, and testing
- Knowledge of avionics and embedded systems design
- Familiarity with satellite guidance and control systems
- Operational experience with various commercial or government/military UAS platforms
- Proficiency in Python programming
- Possession of an FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot Certificate
- FAA Private/Commercial/Instrument/CFI/CFII certification or equivalent credentials
