Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Advanced Registered Nurse Practitioner to join our team at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care, education, and research in the field of adult Hepatology.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assure clinical competency and expertise in the area of specialization.
  • Function independently and/or as a member of an interdisciplinary team to plan, deliver, and evaluate healthcare for patients.
  • Collaborate with nursing staff and administration to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care.
  • Determine nursing care requirements and develop programs for patients, taking into account their condition and age.
  • Promote health maintenance across the continuum of healthcare, from outpatient to inpatient settings and back to home care.
  • Perform medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe medications when a collaborative practice agreement is in place.
  • Provide anticipatory guidance and counseling to patients and families.
  • Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate health reports for outgoing correspondence.
  • Initiate and coordinate referrals to other healthcare team members or agencies.
  • Serve as a consultative resource, providing expert knowledge and behavioral skills that impact clinical practice and patient outcomes.
  • Participate in the development, utilization, and evaluation of resources to meet patient and family educational needs.
  • Provide education and serve as a resource for nursing staff in the area of clinical expertise.
  • Generate research questions regarding healthcare for particular patient populations and incorporate research findings into practice.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of divisional and departmental quality assessment, improvement, and research programs and processes.
  • Responsible for administrative activities and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
  • A Master's degree is required, with a Master's degree in Nursing preferred.
  • Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
  • Current certification in the specialty area and licensure as an ARNP in the state of Iowa is required.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated experience in the area of clinical practice is required.

  • Demonstrated experience in GI is desired.
