Advanced Nurse Practitioner

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Practice Nurse to join our team at The University of Iowa. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with other healthcare professionals to achieve optimal patient outcomes.
Key Responsibilities- Function as an Advanced Practice Nurse and change agent, incorporating the primary role of nurse practitioner and supporting roles of consultant, educator, researcher, and administrator.
- Plan, deliver, and evaluate healthcare for adult Hepatology patients, working independently or as part of an interdisciplinary team.
- Collaborate with nursing staff and administration to monitor and evaluate the quality of patient care.
- Determine nursing care requirements and develop programs for motility disorder patients, taking into account patient condition and age, and following universal precautions.
- Promote health maintenance across the continuum of health, from outpatient to inpatient settings and back to home care.
- Perform medical diagnostic, therapeutic procedures, and prescribe, dispense, or deliver medications when a collaborative practice agreement is in place.
- Document patient assessment and plan of care in the medical record and generate appropriate health reports for outgoing correspondence.
- Initiate and coordinate referrals to other healthcare team members or agencies.
- Provide education and serve as a resource for nursing staff in the area of clinical expertise.
- Generate research questions regarding healthcare for particular patient populations.
- Participate in the development and implementation of divisional and departmental quality assessment, improvement, and research programs and processes.
- Responsible for administrative activities and special projects as assigned.
- Participate in professional nursing activities in the department, hospital, community, and professional organizations.
- A Master's degree in Nursing is preferred. If a Master's degree is in a related field, a Baccalaureate degree in nursing is required.
- Current license to practice nursing in Iowa is required.
- Demonstrated experience in GI is desired.
