Job SummaryThe Safety and Emergency Response Engineer will play a critical role in promoting a strong safety culture at GlobalFoundries. This individual will provide safety and health expertise, ensuring that management systems are established and effectively used to maintain compliance. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, changing environment, strong organizational skills, and the ability to build professional relationships with interdependent teams.
Key Responsibilities- Drive and facilitate a strong safety culture at the site
- Manage and assist with the development and implementation of site-specific safety procedures and programs
- Work with site groups and management to ensure timely and complete root cause investigations of safety incidents and timely closure of corrective actions
- Participate as a site Module EHS&S Representative
- Work with teams on hazard identification, evaluation, control, and risk mitigation strategies
- Educate site personnel on safety requirements and standards, including conducting new hire and ongoing safety training classes
- Provide coaching and professional development to employees to maintain safety excellence
- Review safety data and analyze trends, working with site personnel to develop action plans
- Participate in EHS self-assessment and audits, providing technical assistance and guidance to the site population
- Support the site Emergency Response Team and provide rotating emergency coverage
- Associate's degree in EHS or Engineering, or equivalent military experience
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in a manufacturing or safety environment
- Travel up to 10%
- Fluency in English, written and verbal
- Physical capacity to work in an emergency response capacity, including use of SCBA and level A/B hazmat equipment
- Thorough understanding of OSHA 1910/1926 standards and regulations
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Strong planning and organizational skills
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Occupational Safety, or Health, or equivalent military experience
- Electrical safety experience highly preferred
- Prior semiconductor experience preferred
- Safety/IH professional certification preferred
- Project management skills, including the ability to innovate and execute solutions
